How to setup your own gearshttp://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144780#goto_threadtools
I hear a lot of people saying they want there gears setup I usually say try to do it your self its a great thing to know how to do so this thread will help explian how to setup your own gears.
Keep in mind some axles are differnet like a dana axles has shims behind the carrier bearings were a chev or ford has big shims outside the carrier bearings and toyotas samauri's and gm 14 bolts use adjustable shims you just thread in till you get a nice gear pattern. Also some axles have pinnion shims others have crush sleaves hope that helps
now this tech i need to brush up on seeing i want to go 5.29's. hey jessey ever do a toy third before? if your any good maybe you can lend a hand
Ive never setup yota gears but I have done sammy ones and they are the same just lemme know ill give you a hand
do i have to slide my axels out to remove my gearing in my ninsan?
the nissan axles should be like the toys with the removable thirds. so yes you would have to pull out the axle shafts to remove the thirds.
great fun lol. but a good time to add sythetic and vent tubes lol
i wouldnt put the synthetic oil in the diffs if your using the truck to wheel. i change my diffs a lot because if you do any kinda water crossing theres a good chance of water seeping in. putting the breathers on is a great idea, mine are about 3' long with lil K&N filters on the ends.
mine are going to be sealed with ultra blue and run them high anough that if i hit that much water im fucked anyway lol. im c uries why not sythetic. i have allways used sythetic on all my road vehicles.
because its going to turn to goo anyway just run 90 gear oil oh and brian I know have setup toyota gears so lemme know if you need a hand
20 mins with like .006 lash
is that good? who's gears did ya do?
hahah i wish i had a toyota for you to help me with
